(Term of photography)
The relative amount of light hitting a light sensitive surface, eg. the coating of photographic film or a digital sensor. This amount is determined by the product of the aperture and the shutter opening time. In photography, you need to divide by the f-stop number of the aperture to calculate that product.
The exposure value used for displaying and converting Radiance images is analog in meaning to the photographic term.
